Pinoys are up next on IT5

Have you seen this freakin’ teaser for the next Incredible Tales 5 episode airing this Sunday, June 29, 10pm?
It’s an episode about a Manananggal. Back home in Aklan, my mom and aunts call them wak-wak (coming from the sound of their wings when they fly by). I just found out that they’re called Penanggalan in Malay.
Be as it may, the next episode of IT5 will feature a story about a Manananggal. The episode is shot in the Philippines and should be an interesting one to watch.
I never thought I’d say this, but reading this line “Which is scarier – a Malaysian ghost, a Singaporean ghost, a Thai ghost … or a Filipino ghost?” from Channel 5’s website, makes me wanna say “Go, Pinoys!”
Cobain in a Box
June 26, 2008
The 90’s would’ve been just an era if not for the iconic people like Nirvana’s frontman Kurt Cobain.
He who has ushered silent brashness and grunge has died and reincarnated into music compilation of unreleased tracks and astrayed wife, has now been reduced into a limited shoe collection.
But I guess it’s different nowadays. Kurt Cobain, the man who fathered songs that conveyed teen angst is now just another name to sell.
I mean, if Doc Marten got away with this..
why not Converse.
I for one do not agree with this, but hey, for some, this is a meal ticket.

Have you seen GINA?
June 17, 2008
She’s sleek, sophisticated, and very pleasing. Meet BMW’s GINA Light Visionary Model. GINA which stands for “Geometry and Functions in ‘N’ Adaptations”.
Hmmm.. if it wasn’t for the end product, I’d say that this is a tacky name. Why not just call it “G and F’ing INA”.
When I first saw this clip, I thought that it’s a joke. Some kind of a CGI ad to tease consumers. But no, it wasn’t.
Mind you that this is a concept car. But it’s a very exciting concept that pushes forward the thinking of new cars enveloped in a textile sheet that acts like a metal sheet.
Lesser drag, custom fit, radical roadster, the BMW GINA seems to have started ushering a new generation of mobility and lifestyle.

Home Alone?
June 17, 2008
Just when you think that the episodes are getting better comes the 27th “Sari, No One’s Home“.
I hate this episode for a couple of reasons.
- Sari trying too hard to become an Autobot
- The Constructicons making another disappointing and meaningless appearance
- Bumblebee leaking oil and not doing anything about it
- Blitzwing manhandling 5 Autobots
- Blitzwing pausing to manhandle the 5 Autobots because they’re in a huddle
- Sari taking on the Constructicons ala Macaulay Culkin
Ok, so it’s suppose to be a fun episode. I get it. But come on.
The Female of the Species
June 17, 2008
Seems like our friend at veoh hasn’t been uploading new TFA episodes lately. Fortunately YouTube got them episodes.
Here’s episode 26, “Black Friday“.
Remember the cartoon series Challenge of the GoBots? Well, unlike Transformers, they have a lead female character called Crasher. Well, I thought at first that Crasher just like wearing a lipstick or a thick lip. But she’s a female robot.
Ok. As lousy as the GoBots robots were, they always seem to come up with good plots. And this is because of a female ingredient, Crasher.
But now, it’s a good thing that the TFA has incorporated a cunning female robot who has issues herself. And her name is Black Arachnia.
This episode showcases a love triangle-ish plot between Black Arachnia, Grimlock, and Optimus Prime. I always loved Grimlock, as stubborn as he is as Sentinel Prime, he is one of the most memorable characters since G1.
Cool episode. Go watch it if you haven’t yet.
Spiderwick, Spiderwick, Friendly Neighborhood Spiderwick
June 13, 2008
When I watched this with my wife and kids, I knew that there’s something about this Sarah Bolger that’s familiar. And just today, it hit me.. she’s the girl in the film “In America“. Yup, they’re real life sisters you know, Sarah and Emma Bolger. Sadly I did not get to watch that because I thought that this trailer says it all.
Anyway, while I’m still in hunt for the DVD of “In America”, here’s a grown up Sarah Bolger for you.
Synopsis: Once upon a time, upon moving into the run-down Spiderwick Estate with their mother, twin brothers Jared and Simon Grace, along with their sister Mallory, find themselves pulled into an alternate world full of faeries and other creatures. Unable to explain the strange disappearances and accidents that seem to be happening on a daily basis, the family blames it all on Jared. When he, Simon and Mallory investigate what’s really going on, they uncover the fantastic truth of the Spiderwick estate and of the creatures that inhabit it.
Cast: Freddie Highmore; Sarah Bolger; Nick Nolte; Mary-Louise Parker

Have you seen the new Street Fighter 4 trailer?
DAAANGGGG!!!
The game runs on the Taito Type X2 arcade board inside a Taito Vewlix cabinet. I don’t even know what that means, but look how cool this new game from the Street Fighter series.
It should be out on July 2008 and for PlayStation 3 consoles.
Here are two other fighting games that should be worthy of a second look if you line ‘em up against the SF4.
Soul Caliber 4 (July 2008, PS3 and XBox 360)
Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe (July 2008, PS3 and XBox 360)
