Good luck and God bless.

Ris Low vs Credit Card Fraud

September 25, 2009

Guilty of credit card fraud

By Dawn Tay

RECENTLY crowned Miss Singapore World Ris Low, 19, had earlier been found guilty of credit-card fraud.

The beauty queen was convicted of five charges of misappropriation, cheating using illegally obtained credit cards, and impersonating their users’ identities.

The first-time offender was sentenced in May this year to 24 months of supervised probation, said a Subordinate Courts spokesman in response to a query from my paper.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Now that’s just damn funny. Sorry, babe. Can’t defend you on this one.

FAILED!

Just back from blogging and I know I missed out on a lot of topics since MJ’s passing away.

Thanks to Ms Ris Low, I’m back to blog about this video interview…

Poor thing. The video captions really didn’t help. It just made it worse.

For what its worth, I’m sure it’s not Ms Low’s fault that her interview came out that way. Here’s what should’ve happened:

  • She should have composed herself beforehand
  • Her manager/coach/mentor should’ve known that one of her weaknesses is her english. So, why not just make her speak her mother tongue instead. That’s what translators are for.
  • Someone should’ve prepared her for this interview.
  • Singaporeans should just support her nonetheless. Her answers were not that stupid.

Ever watch “Lost In Translation?” That’s how I think it is. In Low’s mind, when she was coming up with her answers for the questions thrown at her, it’s all perfect in her mother tongue.  Translate it into english, and all things are screwed up. Even Google Translate is not that perfect.

Reminds me when I was new in Singapore. When I was about to knock off from the office, my colleague asked me “Going back?”. I said, “no.” Why should I go back? But turned out he meant “to go back home.”

When people here say “can?”, it’s like translating it to tagalog as “kaya?

It’s one thing to speak good english. It’s another thing to speak english appropriately as in time and place.

So ease up on Ris Low. It’s not that you can’t understand her interview.

RIP – Michael Jackson

June 26, 2009

Michael Jackson (1958-2009)

Michael Jackson (1958-2009)

This is such a sad news. Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, died of cardiac arrest this day. Just when I thought he’s making a comeback.

Forget about the craziness and the “skin conditions”, there is no shadow of a doubt that Michael Jackson has changed our lives in one way or another. From his ABC song with the Jackson 5, to the haunting Thriller, the breakthrough video music of Black and White, and his love songs such as I Just Can’t Stop Loving You and She’s Out Of My Life.. he changed lives from all the corners of the world. Just ask Justin Timberlake.

For my generation, this is like being a witness to Elvis Presley‘s career… only better.

Wow! I can’t believe he’s gone.

Goodbye, Michael Jackson. Rest In Peace.

Kho-Halili Sex Scandal

Kho-Halili Sex Scandal

I don’t know what to say about this latest scandal. A scandal that involves Dr. Hayden Kho and Katrina Halili doing the nasty. (If you’re looking to download it don’t bother. It’s crappy).

But apparently, this scandal has shook the whole Philippines. The showbiz people are crying for justice. The Catholic church is symphatizing. People are aghast with the doctor’s immorality.

The worst part of this is.. (brace yourself).. apparently this scandal is the top priority of the Philippine Senate.

Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr said Hayden Kho is a maniac.. a predator.

The police are making surprise checks in internet cafes.

Just when everybody in the Philippines is looking to find justice for Kho’s victims.. everyone who had their say on this issue has shot their popularity way up there. For? For the sake of __(just fill in the blank)___.

I guess the whole of the Philippines can sleep soundly in the night knowing that the evil such as Hayden Kho doesn’t escape justice.

Tax money well spent.

Mission Accomplished!

Mission Accomplished!

Going through a 200Km adventure around Singapore in a motorized wheelchair to raise SG$200,000 in helping people with cerebral palsy is no laughing matter nor an easy one. It never is and never will be. But just ask Dennis Kweh about it and all he’ll be able to say is that he was able to do that in 3 days.

Well done, Mr Dennis Kweh! I admire such courage and perseverance. It’s been a blast following the lead of a modern day hero.

To you and to your team, congratulations and God bless!

Please continue your support to Dennis and his cause. Find out more from a200.sg

As greedy as Genghis Khan?

As greedy as Genghis Khan?

Yesterday, I learned from the news that Imelda Marcos is listed as one of the 11 Greediest People of All Time by NewsWeek.

Yup, you heard that right. One of the greediest person of all time. Spanning from Marcus Licinius Crassus to Genghis Khan to Bernard Madoff.

For someone who’s famous for having a lot of designer shoes, Imelda Marcos suddenly became one of the greediest people ever. I mean, if I am in the position to buy a lot of shoes that I like, why wouldn’t I? Have you ever heard of the term sneakerhead?

Is this for real or is this just a way of US to shame Philippines for the recent G20 blacklisting?

Either way, I really don’t know how to react because this is so childish.

BTW, where are the Filipino patriots who sprung into action from anger on Chip Tsao’s comments?

Makes you wonder, huh.

R.I.P. Filecloud.com

April 1, 2009

Goodbye, dear friend!

Goodbye, dear friend!

For the longest time, it seems like filecloud.com is one of the best online platform to store and share your files in the web. It’s not fussy and gives online users straight-up service.

On March 31, 2009 (April 1, 2009 for GMT +8), filecloud.com has ceased its service. Too bad because I really enjoyed filecloud.

Though as it may, they always say that when one door closes, another opens.

So, for filecloud fanatics, welcome DivShare.com!

This was March 25, 2009. Unfortunately, I’ve moved on to check something else, which is Twitter and haven’t logged into Facebook ever since.

I hear that twitter is becoming quite a fad now. Not sure why. That’s why I’ve moved on to something else. It’s not my fault that Facebook has a ridiculous security system.
